Custom Woodwork Crafted for Fun!
I’ve always been drawn to the feel, look, and smell of wood! Seven years ago, my wife Kathryn and I moved to the charming town of Stoughton, Wisconsin, when I retired. After 45+ years as a Marine and a Design Engineer, retirement has given me the chance to channel my creativity into woodworking, a true passion of mine. Nearly all my projects are crafted from reclaimed, repurposed, or reimagined lumber, ranging from large-scale builds to intricate fine woodworking—and everything in between! - John Basco
Every piece I create is one-of-a-kind. Each element is cut, sanded, stained, and painted by hand. I embrace the knots, cracks, and imperfections in the wood, using them to highlight its beauty and uniqueness. Whether it’s your design or mine, from charcuterie boards to business signs, everything is crafted with care. Collaborative and personal design is always an exciting journey!

I'll admit, I'm not the best businessman. If I could, I'd give away everything I create! That's probably why I've steered clear of running an online business. What I lack in business skills, I make up for with a passion for crafting things that people can appreciate and enjoy. That said, I understand the need to start charging so I can continue supporting local businesses and non-profits with whatever they need. I promise my pricing will always be fair and transparent, tailored to fit your budget. Your support will go directly back into our community! Semper Fi!
Last year, I decided to make a few Stoughton-themed ornaments to sell at the Chorus House Small Business and Victorian Holiday Craft shows. After selling out the 50 I made on the first day, I ended up having to create another 250 to meet the demand! This year, I wanted to honor Stoughton's heritage with a Rosemaling design. Rosemaling is a stunning Norwegian art form that thrived in the 17th and 18th centuries. The intricate details of true Rosemaling are crafted by highly skilled artists who have mastered the technique. Since I've never painted before, I call my version "Rosemauling" out of respect for the true artists.
Ornaments will be available at the "Small Business Saturday" and the "Victorian Holiday Artisan Market", November 29 and December 6 at the Chorus Public House in Stoughton.
This year's ornaments are 4.5 inches in diameter, multi-layered, and individually hand-painted, making each one unique. The text on the outer ring can be customized with various sayings. Feel free to reach out if you'd like an ornament featuring your business logo or design.
